Arcadia Center for Sustainable Food & Agriculture

Food Co-op / Grocery Store
Arcadia's Mobile Markets source fresh, locally- and sustainably-grown produce from Arcadia Farm in Alexandria, VA and 18+ farms within 125 miles of Washington, D.C. We carry fruits, vegetables, meat, milk, eggs, bread, honey, granola and other wholesome products. The Markets make 19 weekly stops in the DC-Metro area in low food access neighborhoods. We accept all forms of payment, including cash, debit, SNAP/EBT, WIC and Senior FMNP vouchers, and DC Produce Plus Vouchers. Through generous donors, we are able to double the value of federal nutrition benefits for produce, meat and eggs -- that means $20 on an EBT card can yield $40 in healthy, nutritious food for our customers. We also make educational school visits with the Mobile Market, host field trips on Arcadia Farm, and run a 5-week summer farm camp. More than 20 percent of our campers receive full scholarships, which are funded by donors.

The Arcadia Center for Sustainable Food & Agriculture is dedicated to creating a sustainable and equitable local food system. Arcadia's mission is to improve the health of our community, support the viability of local farmers, and preserve the environment for future generations. Through our programs, we work to address issues of food access and food justice; raise awareness about healthy food and its sources; and establish innovative connections between local, sustainable farms and consumers.
