Starr Alpaca Farm has been in operation since 2003. We raise Suri and Huacaya Alpacas, Pygora goats and chickens. All the fiber harvested from our alpacas and goats is processed into yarn, roving or rugs. Our chickens are strictly egg producers. All our livestock share their pasture with out two Great Pyrenees. Our yarn is made in the NW by a small fiber mill, Spring Harvest Mill, in Sunnyside, Washington. Primarily our yarn is left in it's natural color for yarn but recently we began hand painting many of our yarns. Some of our yarn is spun with small percentage of colored bamboo or merino wool. All the skeins are labeled with the and includes information any product that may have been added such as merino or bamboo. Our eggs are not certified organic but are hens are happily rooming a acre of land with the alpacas and goats. They get all our kitchen scraps. So in essence, they eat what we eat as well as Alber's chicken food.

We raise "fiber animals" for our "Fiber Farm". What is a "fiber Animal"? Any animal that grows fleece that can be shorn or combed off the animal. The animal goes on to produce another year's crop of fiber. We take our yearly harvest of fiber and have it made into yarn, roving, batting and other products. We also use their poop to make a super terrific compost. Looking for a renewable product that is earth friendly? Think about fiber animals!
