I have been keeping chickens since we moved to our present residence in 1996. My chickens live in a large partially open barn where they enjoy life living in the country. They are fed an egg layers ration and garden scraps. They also roam my property eating bugs and seeds. The hens lay their eggs in nest boxes. The eggs are collected daily and refrigerated. The eggs are fertile and if the eggs are needed for hatching I will hold some at room temperature. I sell the eggs for $5.00 per dozen. For mixed variety chicks, there is a $10 incubation fee and $3 for each chick that hatches. You must purchase all of the chicks in that hatch. I can incubate up to 41 eggs, with normally more than 25 viable chicks. The chicks must be picked up within 3 days of hatching.
I also upcycle my poly feed sacks into reusable totes. See Susan's Little Chicken House on Facebook for more information or check out my Etsy shop TheChickenHouseTote
