The Bank offers only organic food made from scratch. They promote among local farmers a food culture that focus on heirloom variety and real organic practices.
The menu is strictly seasonal and features local Trout raised in pure spring water with sustainable practices, local all-natural Beef, local organic Veggies, Fresh Pasta and Breads homemade with local free range Eggs and organic stoneground Flour.
Gio, the Chef comes from Italy and promotes the Mediterranean diet which is the way of eating of his people, since he was born and raised in Puglia (South Italy). Also he is influenced by Tuscany were he lived for more than 15 years.
The choice of wines is superb, featuring primarily Virginian wines, followed by American ones and just few unforgettable imported bottles.
There is also available a list of natural sodas made without chemicals or hfcs.
Hour Local suppliers include: Stonecrop Farm in Newport, 8 miles(organic certified greens and veggies), Big Pine Trout Farm in New Castle 20, miles (naturally raised trout), Taylor Hallow farm in Blacksburg, 20 miles (naturally raised free range Beef), Johnatan in Pearisburg, 0 miles (free range organic eggs and soon Chicken and Squab), Nick in Narrows, 4 miles (organic non certified, greens and veggies), Carol and Ron Backer in Newport, 8 miles (naturally raised Lamb), plus we purchase many ingredients at the Farmers Market in Blacksburg and we are collaborating with the Town of Pearisburg to bring an Organic Farmers Market here in town. Ingredient like flour cant be purchased locally because wheat doesn't grow around here but in this cases we purchase it from the closest source (North Carolina, organic and stone ground) but our pasta, bread and dessert are extremely local because they are produced here in our kitchen!
