The Coney Garth, now located at The Pasturage, LLC

Family Farm
The Coney Garth (definitions): Coney, from old English, meaning rabbit, extends from the Latin cuniculum, the species to which rabbits belong. Garth, from old English, meaning yard. Essentially, a coney garth (also known as a rabbit yard or rabbit garden) is a very old husbandry technique first practiced in French monasteries somewhere between 500-1000 C.E that is now obsolete. Today, the garth is no longer a paved, walled courtyard in one permanent location but rather a mobile, intensely managed, pasture allocation. The Coney Garth received funding from SARE in 2010 to perfect grazing, breeding and managing meat rabbits in a cage-free, hare-pen-free colony setting where they thrive entirely on grass and vegetable scraps.
