In 2014 we will offer four different share options: a Spring/Summer share (17 weeks), a Fall share (10 weeks), a Full Season share (27 weeks), and a Full Season Work Share (27 weeks). Our CSA begins the 2nd week of May with pickups available in Richmond, Farmville and on the farm. We invite you to become a CSA member, welcoming your involvement on the farm at whatever level suits you. For approximately $22 per week our weekly share aims to provide vegetables for two adults or a family with small children, although this is always dependent on how many vegetables you like to eat. Each week's share will be carefully selected to harmonize together for wonderful seasonal feasts. We hope to encourage the chef in each and every one of you. Below are examples of two weekly offerings.
Spring Share: A Napa Cabbage, bunch of Daikon Radish, bunch of Carrots, ½ lb bag of Salad mix, bunch of Cilantro, bunch of Scallions, buch of Greens, Qt of Sugar Snap Peas.
Summer Share: 2 lbs Tomatoes, 1 Qt. Okra, 1 Lb Summer Squash, 1/2 Lb Sweet Peppers, 1 bu Basil, 1 Watermelon, 1 head Butterhead Lettuce.
The Work Share: Work Share members commit to two workdays throughout the season. There will be three different workdays scheduled in which share members can come out and work with us, the farmers, on a specific project such as planting tomatoes, harvesting onions or potatoes, and a fall garlic planting. The Work Share is offered for those members who are interested in helping out in the fields and learning about our farming practices first hand. The Work Share is $560 for 27 weeks, which is a discount from the regular full season price.
