Valley of the Moon Fiber Works is dedicated to keeping the traditional skills of fiber preparation, spinning, and knitting alive. Available for demonstrations and workshops, as well as individual lessons, Valley of the Moon Fiber Works is working toward local sourcing of sheep wool, alpaca, and other fibers, and continues to educate how shopping local benefits the community. Our aim is to connect people with the animals that give them the fleece used to make their clothing, and we make every attempt to get to know the shepherds personally and put a name to each animal whose fiber enriches our lives. Located in the beautiful Ojai Valley, the colors that surround us inspire the colors we use to dye our fibers. Using both natural and other dyes, we try to bring color into everyday life, in the clothes we wear, the accessories we use, and the yarn we spin. Fiber batts, roving, yarn, and finished items such as hats, socks, baby layettes, and market bags are available. If you would like a spinning demonstration for your school or group, please email us below.
