S & T Ranch is a small family operated farm, in the beautiful foothills looking over the Antelope Valley. Just an hour from Los Angeles, S&T Ranch is located in Lake Hughes, California.
We have been raising poultry for seven years now and have come to enjoy the Heritage breeds of animals. We raise Heritage Bourbon Red Turkeys, Heritage Red broiler chickens, Peking ducks, and new to our family the Red Wattle pigs. We are looking to breed Ancona ducks soon, they are a Heritage duck. We are committed to conserving these wonderful heritage breeds. We want to help ensure that they remain in production and on our dinner plates.
We value the care that we put into every animal we raise. We grow our animals with- out any growth hormones, no antibiotics, and no medicine . Our farming methods are all-natural, using herbal supplements for an early chicks start to a happy and healthy poultry. We practice permaculture lifestyle, by nourishing the earth, by pasture rotation, creating most of our fertilizer with our animals and removing pest and diseases with our animals.
Our Products:
Heritage Bourbon Red Turkeys: was developed in Pennsylvania and carried west and south with settlers, its name came from the Bourbon County, Kentucky. It was a dominant commercial variety in the early twentieth century, but was overwhelmed by the Broad Breast Bronze. Known for being great foragers, they are a slow growing bird, Heirloom breeds that mate and brood naturally unlike the Broad Breast Bronze. Bourbon Red Turkey is listed as Ark of Taste, it has a richly flavored meat. They average from 15 to 22 pounds.
Heritage Red broilers: Country of origin,is the United States. It�?�?¢�?¯�?¿�?½?�?¯�?¿�?½?s slower growing than the commercial Cornish cross chicken. They averages 5 to 6 pounds
Red Wattle hogs: The origin and history are a little unclear, found again in the early 1970's breed and domestic by H.C. Wengler in East Texas. He is credited with starting the, Wengler Red Wattle Hog line. Red Wattle hogs get their name from its red color and distinctive wattles. Red Wattle Hog is listed on the ALBC Conservation Priority List as being critically endangered. There are fewer than 200 annual registrations in the U.S. and estimated to have fewer than 2,000 individuals of this breed globally.
Red Wattle pork is lean and juicy with a rich beef-like taste, preferred by chefs at many restaurants across the United States.
