On our ranch in Lake County we raise (among other things) Merino sheep to harvest their wool. After we have the sheep sheared I skirt and wash their fleece. Pick and card or comb the wool and then I spin it into wool yarn. From this beautiful yarn I weave or crochet hats, scarfs, woven shawls and lap robes. I sell these along with the hand spun yarn at my studio at the ranch and at craft shows in the area.
I feature the natural colors of the wool. Each sheep has it's own color. Some lighter, some darker. Some colors are solid some are heather-ed, all are beautiful.
Because I am a production spinner I want my wool to draw easily and steadily so that I do not have to keep stopping to fix or adjust something. To achieve this I add some Llama or silk or soy silk to the wool at the time of carding. It spins so-o-o smooth and easily. I sell these roving to spinners from the ranch and at shows
I also teach spinning in my studio here at the ranch
