The term 'Southern Field Peas' refers to hundreds of different varieties of peas that are subdivided into four main groups: field peas, Crowder peas, cream peas and black-eyed peas. Originally brought to the US from the Niger River basin of West Africa, Field peas have been in the New World since colonial times. Field peas became a staple food among poor residents in the deep American south, as they are drought tolerant and easily adaptable to varying types of soils. The beans are eaten both as fresh shelled beans and dried, on the vine, for winter eating. Each variety offers a distinctive taste and color.

Athens Locally Grown is a small group of growers located around Athens, Georgia. Each grower farms his/her land using strict standards to ensure that everything produced is chemical-free. All member farms are dedicated to supplying their customers with the freshest and highest quality vegetables, herbs, mill products, eggs, fruits, flowers, and transplants.

Our farm has been in the same family since the early 1800. It is currently farmed by two generations, Jim and Kate Smith and their daughter, Maggie Smith. For direct retail sales we raise angus cross breed cattle, pastured laying hens and heirloom vegetables.

Bear Creek Farms is in Osceola, MO. We have a retail greenhouse, market fresh vegetables and cut flowers at the Brookside Farmers'Community Market at 63rd and Wornall in Kansas City, MO., and our vegetables are available at Whole Foods Market.

Let me introduce myself. I'm Laura Benson, proprietress of BlueStar Acres Farm and 3rd party CSA service. I'm a responsible adult (49) & mother of 5. I ( and my Granny before me) have been doing the "Large extended family" equivalent (over 50 members average- Benson- Kennedy- Hammond- Jamison- Vaughn- Leblanc- LeBouef- Boren- Duncan- Cortez- Poole- We're ALL related! LOL) to a CSA for quite some time now, but I have never had a farm stand or sold at local farmers' markets.

Celebrate the Sixth Year of the Cannon County Farmers' Market. Our Market is an open air - seasonal market open on Saturday from 6-10am and located in downtown Woodbury Tennessee on the Courthouse Square. The 2009 Market will be open in May with plants and early produce and will close the last weekend in October. There is a wide assortment of fruits and vegetables available, as well as baked and canned goods.
