Pantin Mamey Sapote

Ark of Taste Products > Pantin Mamey Sapote

The Pantin mamey sapote is a unique, tropical tree fruit with an interior texture that is creamy and sweet. The flavor of its salmon colored flesh is like sweet potato and pumpkin with undertones of almond, chocolate, honey, and vanilla. Native to Central America, the Pantin variety grows well only in the climate of South Florida and nowhere else in the continental United States. It is very important to the Latino community in South Florida yet the small local farms that grow it are under siege from land development, land prices and hurricanes.
