Lake Michigan Whitefish
The Lake Michigan Whitefish, a member of the carp family, has been the centerpiece of the Door Peninsula and Washington Island, WI commercial fishing industry for the past century. Today there are only two families, two boats, and three commercial fishermen on Washington Island involved in fishing for Lake Michigan whitefish. This fish has a sweet and delicate flavor and is usually served smoked or featured in the fish boil, a Washington Island tradition.

Our second location is in Oscoda-AuSable at Shoreline Park on US-23 at the river. Our Saturday location is in Tawas City at Gateway Park. Gateway is on US-23 right at the mouth of Tawas River.
