Capitol Reef Apple

Ark of Taste Products > Capitol Reef Apple

The Capitol Reef National Park in Utah is home to the Capitol Reef Apple, which is cultivated in the parkâ??s historic Fruita Orchards. As a sugary, moist and crunchy apple, it is well suited for pies, but not tart enough for cider. This apple is famous for its production in Fruita, where it is uniquely adapted to the rocky canyon climate. The National Parks Service takes care to produce the apple in a sustainable manner by contacting the Center for Sustainable Environments to handle organic management of the orchards, which are preserved as a Rural Historic Landscape
