Keener Farm

In 1830, our farm was purchased by my great-great grandfather, John Keener, when the State of Ohio was only 27 years old. The 160-acre farm has 50 acres of old-growth forest and 100 acres of tillable farmland, that we are constantly converting into pasture for cattle and chickens. The farm house, the bank barn, tobacco shed, and ice house were all built before 1850 by my ancestors. With the state of today's meat industry, I feel there is a cry from the educated consumer for local, responsibly raised meats. This CSA will provide grass fed beef, pastured chicken and eggs, lamb, and pork made from pigs farrowed in a wood lot. There is peace of mind knowing you're eating meat from a healthy hormone-free animal. Not only does a CSA membership help support a small local farm, but you'll enjoy the freshest, tastiest meat available! CSA stands for Community Supported Agriculture. In this relationship between farm and consumer, the consumer purchases a share of the current year's livestock, becoming a shareholder of the herd. As a shareholder, the consumer secures a share of the farm's annual meat production. In return Keener''s Walnut Grove Farm will raise, process and deliver your share of meat once a month.
