We are getting some more rain here in Marietta, GA - the plants are loving it! I will be very busy soon, digging up plants and dividing them for my plant sale, and for my move! I will be moving myself and my business to Dallas, GA in about 6 weeks - approximately 20 minutes from where I am now. Found a bigger piece of property, with a "clean slate" so to speak! And, closer to my grandson, too! I will post an event for the plant sale, there will be tons of stuff for sale! Hope you locals can get over to my place for the sale and get a deal or two! Be on the lookout for the sale date!
Have a great day! debbie
Hello, all, I'm just curious what folks in other parts of the country (or even in my own city!) have coming up (if anything), either in the garden/field, greenhouse or on the window sill! I have collards, kale, and arugula up, as well as Cilantro planted in the fall is shooting upward. I will be planting sugar snap peas this weekend, and who knows what else, maybe some lettuce? I also have basil under the grow light in the house. I reworked the strawberry bed, and also saw buds sitting tight on the blueberries. Not to mention all the many, many other things tentatively poking through the earth! Daffodils blooming the past few days, my favorite flower! So glad to see a little warmer weather here. If you get a minute, comment and tell me what you've got planted, and where you are. Hope everyone has a great weekend! deb :-)
Winter is colder this year than it's been for a while! Or maybe I just forget from year to year? I compare it to having a baby in some respects, as you forget about the pain as soon as you see those beautiful green "baby" shoots coming up out of the earth in Spring!
Of course...we've had a "hard" winter for this area, as we've had two significant snow storms which is unusual. Christmas day it began snowing late in the day, and it was beautiful! Then of course the other week we had quite a storm, i received about 5 inches at my house. We were "stuck" for about three days as our roads were horrible, all ice. We don't have the equipment they have in the northern states to clear the roads. Then, the sky tried to flurry at us again yesterday. I am not a snowbird....I enjoy looking outside at it, but don't particularly care for being house-bound for long. I did enjoy the few days, though, that my daughter Ginny and I were house-bound together because she and I are usually like ships passing in the night. We got to spend some "quality time" together...I even baked some homemade bread a few times and found she LOVES bread! (well, who doesn't?)
I am going to attempt making some sort of herb bread today, as well as the whole-wheat. If it is successful, I will try to remember to post the recipe. However, my grandson Tommy will be over tonite (he's a handful - he's 2 1/2) so I might be so worn out I'll forget to post!
Well cheers to all, and have an awesome weekend! I'm off to bake!
Hi all, and a HAPPY NEW YEAR from Marietta, Georgia. A week ago we got the worse snow storm we've had in a long time! I got about five (5!!) inches at my house, my daughter received 6 inches and she's thirty minutes north of me. Not a lot to do when you are snowed in, except dream of spring, look at seed catalogs, feed the birds and watch them through the window....i saw BLUEBIRDS at my seed feeders, amazing! Never seen that before. Hmmm...I've been baking and EATing...and dreaming up a new tea blend! Hopefully you will be able to purchase my new Minty Fresh Twisted herbal tea blend online here soon. I am enjoying my new creation. And, fortunately, we are now out and about again, with still much snow on the ground...it's been freezing all week! I need spring to come soon so I can escape into the outdoors again! Hope you all are staying warm and dreaming of spring as well....til next time, debbie
I want to take the time today to say I am very thankful for all my family, friends, and customers (who are also my friends!), and for all the FARMERS and GROWERS. I am truly blessed with an abundance of people in my life who make me feel special! I thank the Lord for another good year, for fully bellies and laughter, for all the things I am blessed with. And I continue to remember those who live very hard lives, who suffer pain and hunger, illness and disease, in other countries as well as in my own country, and I continue to pray that the Lord will provide for them through compassionate and loving people, all over the world. I hope all of you have a very Thankful Thanksgiving, and remember we here in the United States of America are truly fortunate. Have a blessed day! deb :-)
