Saturday is the last day of the National Farmers Market Week and the perfect way to celebrate homegrown goodness is to shop at the largest local 100% homegrown/produced farmers market...the Bluegrass Farmers' Market! Yup, that's correct, our farmer members are inspected and we can guarantee that they grow, raise, produce, make or bake what is sold at our market! We do not allow any member to go to auctions and resell. We think that is the true meaning of a farmers market! So, we are proud to celebrate National Farmers Market Week with all of you by offering the very best and the freshest available.
Here's a partial list of what you will find this week at one of our markets...

Special News... our own Mr. Tomato, Roger Postley will be participating in the Annual Tomato Festival!
Fun for the whole family!
Come join your neighbors at the 7th Annual Tomato Festival at The Arboretum. The fun begins on Sunday August 11, from 1:00PM until 4:00PM. Admission $2
This year’s Festival will feature tomato tasting of many varieties—all locally grown. What’s more, this year’s event will be bigger and better with numerous attractions outside the visitor's center and additional children's games, lectures, and prizes. Smashing Tomato, Apiary, and Whole Foods have signed on and guest chefs will be giving demonstrations. Another participating gastronomic mainstay of the Festival is the Sullivan University Culinary program. Speakers Wendy O’Connor, Clark Co. Library, on cooking “After the BLT”, Dr. John Strang, University of Kentucky Extension Horticulture Professor, on “Tomato Culture”, Dr. Norm Strobel, Bluegrass and Community Technical College Biology Professor discussing the culture and diseases of tomatoes and Roger Postley, Tomatoes, Etc., Lexington's own Mr. Tomato (and a BGFM vendor), leading a Tomato Q & A session involving all the speakers. Come. Enjoy!
