Chef Maxwell of Down Home Virginia will be filming cooking demonstrations for his TV show at the final Tuesday market of the season.Maggie Stultz, known for her colorful ceramic dishes will be in the Artist Tent along with Polly Nunn, known for her botanical paintings. Farmers and bakers will sell peanuts, prepared foods, fresh produce, berries and other fruit.

Fruit, seafood, cut flowers, cheese, honey, soaps and herbs are among the many items available from over 30 vendors.William & Mary Executive Chef Denis Callinan will demonstrate at the Chefs Tent.Narissa Bond will play from 9:00 to 11:00.The Master Gardeners will be at their tent during the morning exhibiting therapeutic gardening techniques.

The Fat Canary will be at the Chefs Tent at 9:30 and 10:30.  There will be live music performed by Blush from 9:00 – 11:00.  The Master Gardeners will be at their tent to answer gardening questions.  This week's topic is Incredible Edibles - Vegetables in Containers.  Apples, peaches, berries and melons will be in abundance along with many other seasonal products.

The Williamsburg Lodge and Inn will cook at the Chefs Tent at 9:30 and 10:30.Musicians Prentice Creek will perform live from 9:00 to 11:00.Over 30 vendors will provide in-season produce and products including the first peaches of the season.See our website for up-to-date vendor and product availability.

We are coming along in the contest, but we still need more votes.  We are currently at 145.  I know it was a holiday weekend and I trust that everyone enjoyed not only the long weekend and celebration of our great nation's independence, but also our local celebration of the 8th anniversary of the Williamsburg Farmers Market. 

It's a short week and there's plenty of catching up to do, but we need you to take just a few minutes out of your schedule and vote for the us in the American Farmland Trust contest.  We need your help to defend our title.

In 2009 the Williamsburg Farmers Market was voted America's Favorite Farmers Market in the mid-sized category in the American Farmland Trust "America's Favorite Farmers Markets" contest.  Well, the contest is on again and we need to defend our title.

We checked our standings and we currently have 120 votes.  That is good, but not nearly enough for us to defend our title.  Thanks to all of you who have voted for us so far!

Dorothy Fagan of Mathews will be thefeatured artist with her paintings of “Earth, Sky & Water.” Pick up a prepared dinner, local seafood, Greek food, produce, Angus beef, cut flowers, daylilies and jams while shopping and dining in Merchants Square.

Members of the Virginia Chef's Association will gather at the Williamsburg Farmers Market in Merchants Square on Saturday morning, July 3, to celebrate our nation’s independence and the market’s eighth anniversary.

Beginning with the opening bell at 8 a.m. and continuing all morning, Renny Parziale and his fellow chefs will man the Chef’s Tent for a nonstop culinary extravaganza to showcase the market's wide variety of fresh produce, meats, seafood, cheeses, herbs and more.

Parziale will direct participating chefs who will each have 20 minutes to create a recipe from a mystery basket of foods selected that morning from the market vendors. The chefs invite market shoppers to stop by the tent to watch, ask questions and taste the results.

Music will be performed by Orion from 9 a.m. – 12 p.m. Complimentary anniversary cake will be served. Master Gardeners will be in attendance to answer flower gardening questions.
