Emperors Grove is a small, intensive quarter-acre food forest in Jacksonville, Florida, built around the idea that an abundant and diverse orchard doesn’t require a large piece of land. Established in 2023, our farm uses ultra-high-density planting principles to demonstrate how homeowners can produce an incredible variety of fresh fruit in a compact space.
With more than 50 fruiting trees and plants, our collection includes blueberries, figs, loquats, mulberries, avocados, peaches, pineapples, persimmons, bananas, Cherry of the Rio Grande, Surinam cherries, mangoes, jaboticabas, HLB-tolerant citrus varieties, guavas, pears, blackberries, UF finger limes, and other specialty fruits. Because of the diversity of our plantings, fresh fruit is available during much of the year as different species come into season.
As a young farm, many of our trees are still maturing, so fruit availability will continue to increase each year. Our long-term vision includes a seasonal on-site fruit stand featuring fresh-picked fruit and you pick as production expands.
Beyond growing fruit, Emperors Grove is dedicated to education. We offer tours of the property for gardeners, homeowners, and anyone interested in creating their own backyard food forest. Visitors can see firsthand how dozens of fruit species can be successfully grown on a small suburban lot using thoughtful design, careful variety selection, and sustainable growing practices.
We are proud to be recognized as a Gold-Level Florida-Friendly Landscaping™ property and a Certified Wildlife Habitat®, reflecting our commitment to conserving water, supporting pollinators and wildlife, and creating a productive landscape that benefits both people and nature.
Whether you’re looking for unique seasonal fruit or inspiration to build your own edible landscape, we’d love to welcome you to Emperors Grove.
