The Iowa City Farmers Market runs May through October
Wednesdays from 5-7 p.m.
Saturdays from 7:30 a.m. - noon
The Iowa City Farmers Market opened for the first time in August of 1972 with 13 vendors selling on Saturday mornings. Over the next 40 years the market has continued to grow into an integral part of the community with over 50 vendors present at the Wednesday market and over 140 Vendors present at the Saturday market, making it the largest farmers market in Johnson County.
Our market has taken part in the Farmland Trust America's Favorite Farmers' Market contest for the past two years. In 2010 we were voted the #1 market in Iowa and #10 in the U.S. in the large market category. We again took first place in Iowa in 2011.

There is a great variety of local produce, prepared foods, and crafts to choose from and the prices can not be beat! There are also local musicians playing and crafts for kids. I look forward to going every week.
I like being able to purchase fresh fruits & vegetables directly from the growers and knowing the source of the food I eat. It looks and tastes better than the food in the stores.... [more]
fresh sweet corn, straight from the farmers' fields, fresh just-picked flowers, fresh baked-this-morning bakery products.
