Hodgson Farms was started in 1946 by Richard Hodgson Sr. and his wife, Frances, as a chicken farm for egg production in Newburgh, NY. At its peak, Hodgson Farms housed over 50,000 chickens. Those chickens created lots of fertilizer, and beginning in the mid-70's, Hodgson's began to grow vegetables for sale at local farmers markets. In 1976 we began selling produce and eggs at New York City Greenmarkets, and continue to do so today.
The first greenhouses were built at Hodgson Farms in the late 1970's at the farm in Newburgh. We have since expanded into a 15 house growing facility and 50 acres of field production at our current Walden, NY location.
