When you join our CSA as a member, you become part of our farm family. When our garden begins to produce, you are able to pick up a box of produce that is super fresh - picked the day before or the day of distribution! There is no picking before ripe, passing through many hands, traveling many miles, bland produce here. It is all grown on the farm, without pesticides, working with the soil biology that exists to help grow healthy plants.
We don't grow typical varieties that are grown for the supermarket, much of our produce is heirloom and so veryflavorful (no worries about GMO either, if you are concerned). Our garden has grown over the years and is now nearly 4 acres. I tend it, with the help of my children. We are a small, family run farm with a big passion of growing food and lots of it.
How does this work? You pay for your share(s) ahead of the season. Sometime in July we begin harvesting for our members and we pick a box of produce (full of whatever is ripe at the time of picking, each week it’s different!) that carries a minimum retail value of $20, but many weeks the value is above that (though you don’t actually pay more – you’ve paid for your season ahead of time).
Your box of produce will consist of whatever is ripe at the time of picking. We grow the common favorites plus varieties you’d never see in a store. Boxes are available for a 10 week period starting in July. You pick your box up at the farm (or you can have someone else pick it up for you). You will receive an email before pickup, with what to expect and helpful information on using, cooking and storing what is in your box.
There are always "extras" to grab each week to enhance your box that you can take your pick from, but you don't have to take them if you don't want the extra food. Excess produce is available at a member discount and my CSA members have first dibs on excess produce before it goes to the public, even in larger quantities for canning.
