Lavender Lori has self published her first book. The definitive Lavender Farming: Secrets from a Hard Row Hoed (July 2019) covers many aspects and technical details about farming, harvesting, curing and making product from this magical herb never before found in any book about lavender.
Trial, error, innovation, resourcefulness and lots of dry humor are woven through the technical jargon. Lori recommends you read the book before hiring her or anyone for a farm consultation. By doing so you will learn many aspects of farming that are rarely considered by the initiate.
She writes from and farms in western Montana, the high elevation and challenging climate of which set a base that most farmers can manipulate to their own locale. Signed copies $50 available on her website www.Lavenderlori.com. Please specify how you like the personal autograph to read.

She is the pioneer of successful small scale commercial farming of the French 'Grosso' variety and the English variety 'Sachet' in Montana. The latter hardy enough even for growers east of the divide!

Her website includes photos and a PayPal shopping cart of her artisanal quality product line. Bouquets, sachets, smudge sticks, bath salts, immunity tincture, bruise salve, seasonal wreaths as well as her high quality hand made small batch essential oil and hydrosol (lavender water.) She outsources none of her labor, makes everything herself; truly a boutique style farmer and craftswoman.

Lori is widely known for her lively workshops, presentations, book signings, and classes on everything from culinary lavender, crafting, and essential oil distilling. She travels extensively to give classes to your group.

She cut her teeth farming lavender as a share cropper at Ten Spoon Winery from 2001-2013, but moved her operation in 2011 and since 2014 farms exclusively on her own land in Montana's Mission valley.

Lori lives in an off-grid 77 square foot cabin in the south Mission Valley, and has a similar 'guest' cabin for you to experience your own off grid adventure. Find her listing on www.Hipcamp.com/montana/rosalie-ranch/sunshine-daydream

Turns out, through my obsessive note taking, observations, and consistent personal journaling, I have actually been writing this, my first book since the beginning! There wasn't anything like it when I started out, and to my knowledge, it remains a unique offering.... [more]
