Our milk comes from our own Jersey cows which we also breed, and are kept on pasture all day. We supplement their diet with our own mix of Heirsch (Thayer, MO) dairy feed, beet pulp, sunflower, and molasses. Because Jersey cows produce a large amount of milk, it is not possible to feed them on grass alone, as it might be with breeds that produce less milk. However, we believe this trade off is worth it, Jersey cows have the highest fat content of any dairy breed, resulting in an amazing milk, it's like drinking ice cream!
We also raise our own layer hens. Our chickens spend about half of their day free range and the other half of the day building compost for our gardens in their fenced in, outdoor run. In addition to layer chickens we also raise guinea fowl and American Bresse (non-hybridized meat chickens).
We have been building out our very own breed of hog, a mix of the Kunekune, American Guinea Hog, and the iconic bacon hog (working with two breeds currently, the Yorkshire and the Chester White). While our breeding program is a work in progress, the pigs we produce offer similar body lines and characteristics of the lard hog with the superior size and growing speed of the bacon hog.
In addition to animals and animal produce we also can provide farrier service (no shoeing currently) and can provide riding lessons or trail rides.
