At Nonesuch Farm it is our goal to humanely raise heritage livestock, rare poultry and heirloom vegetables. These animals and plants have unique qualities that make them perfect for the homesteader and farmers using natural methods but seem to be disappearing as factory farming becomes the norm.

We have invested our hard work and resources on the farm so that these special animals and plants will not be lost to our children and grand children. We milk beautiful small Jersey and Dexter cows and raise Dexter cattle on grass for beef. Our goats, a cross of Nubian and Dwarfs are also dual purpose for milk and meat. American Guinea Hogs are humanely raised and butchered for pastured pork. We are able to offer farm shares to local folks who desire fresh food and want to know where their food comes from.

We keep several breeds of heritage chickens, geese and ducks for eggs, meat and to enjoy in our three ponds. They add nutrients as we raise catfish. Catfish fingerlings are stocked each January and harvested in late Spring. We also grow an organic veggie garden and tend a small orchard. We do make our extra produce available to the our shareholders and a large supply of oak firewood is available seasonally. Honey is harvested each summer from our hives and any above our needs may be available.

Hatching eggs from our heritage poultry are shipped to the contiguous US in the spring and fall. We provide healthy livestock to homesteaders and small land holders, with started birds, calves, kids and occasionally family milk cows and milking goats. These animals are offered for sale as available. Butcher ready calves, wethers, hogs, ducks, geese and chickens are sold often and can be taken to the processor as a courtesy.

Farm tours are available during quiet times and in fair weather but must be scheduled in advance. We also offer classes on milking cows and goats, caring for livestock animals, canning and preserving food, cheese and butter making, soap making and other homestead skills. Please contact us for availability.

When everything goes right

What a beautiful day in southeast Texas. The sunshine, breeze and cooler temps all conspire to draw me into the garden early this morning. The starts are slightly wilted from the high wind yesterday but perk back up with a little water.... [more]
