Persimmony Snickets

We are a small farm in Lake Placid, Florida. Currently, our farm has 450 persimmon trees and various other fruit trees, bushes, plants etc. We are in the process of turning the 4.5 acres into a Permaculture food forest (a "food jungle" as we imagine it). We are pursuing a long time dream; to farm healthy, pesticide and chemical free fruits and vegetables and to live sustainability and self sufficiently with the smallest footprint possible. Our passion is to educate the surrounding communities about being able to grow their own food in their own yards and to become self sufficient as well. Another goal for our farm is to produce enough food to sell through CSAs, Farmer Markets, and to sell to restaurants. We will also host Farm to Table Dinners at the facility. This way our "food message" will reach a wide area of people in Florida. We hold lectures and training on Permaculture methods and Natural/Organic (chemical free) farming techniques and benefits etc. We will be offering Permaculture Design Certifications and designing food forests and edible landscapes for clients around the world. We feel that it's very important to get this message out to as many people as possible. After spending time with our families and other people we speak to in the surrounding communities, it concerns us that so many people are not aware of what is happening to their food or what exactly is in their food! We believe that growing your own food is a revolution, masquerading as gardening.
