Vision Farms *Farm Fresh Eggs *Pastured Poultry * Grass Fed Beef *Jersey Milk Herd Shares Good foods that are good for you! Vision Farms is a family operated farm, and as our name implies, we do have a vision. That vision is to build a strong, productive family, while providing quality, wholesome, nutritious foods, for folks in our community who are looking for an alternative to today's processed foods. Not only are these foods void of nutrition, but can also be harmful to your health. Pastured poultry and grass finished beef are our specialties! The health benefits of animals raised on grass are remarkable. The products from these animals are very rich in antioxidants including Vit. E, Beta Carotene, and Vit. C. They are 2 to 4 times higher in Omega 3's than conventionally raised animals. Omega 3's are very beneficial to heart and brain health, and can also reduce your risk of cancer. Omega 3's are formed in the chloroplasts of green leaves. In fact, 60% of the fatty acids in grass are Omega 3's. In the typical American diet, Omega 6's are far higher than Omega 3's, which is opposite of what our bodies need. Eating grass fed animal products, help you get your Omega 3's and Omega 6's in the proper balance for optimum health! Besides that, they taste great! We raise Cornish Cross Broilers and Heritage Turkeys that are pastured on clean, fresh grass, and are fed non-genetically modified (GMO) grains. This combination creates a healthy, tasty bird! When ready for slaughter, our birds are handled humanely, and butchered in a clean environment, by our own family. We care very much about the health of these birds, and the sanitation of the processing of them, because they end up on our table too! We also offer farm fresh eggs, from pastured hens, who get a daily dose of grass, bugs, and sunshine. In the Omega 3 department, eggs from pastured hens can have up to 10 times more Omega 3's than those from confined hens. They also contain 3 to 6 times more Vit. D, and are high in folic acid and Vit B12! They have bright orange yolks, from all that chlorophyll, and they taste great! Of course, none of our poultry are ever given growth hormones, antibiotics, or vaccines. Our grass-fed beef spend their whole lives eating just that - GRASS! This makes their meat higher in good fats, lower in bad fats, and lower in calories too! But more importantly, cows that just eat good grass, have 3 to 5 times more Conjugated Linoleic Acid (CLA), than conventionally raised cows. CLA is an important cancer-fighting fat. Our beef is processed by a local, trustworthy butcher, to your own specifications. Our butcher still dry ages the beef, a rather uncommon practice these days, but one that makes for tender, flavorful meat. You can choose from a whole or half. Our cows also do not receive antibiotics or growth hormones. We have started selling herd shares in our Jersey herd. Again, these cows are grass fed, being out on pasture all summer, and getting grass and alfalfa hay during the winter. They are fed a ration of ground oats, barley garlic, kelp, molasses, apple cider vinegar, and minerals at milking time. Your milk comes to you fresh, in glass, gallon jars. We are very attentive to cleanliness in our milking process, as our kids drink this milk too! We believe that knowing where your food comes from is extremely important, and as our vision grows, we are also working to have available: honey from organically raised bees, heirloom vegetables and seedlings, fresh salad greens and herbs. We hope that in some way, our vision will enable you to fulfill your vision, of putting clean, healthy food on your table. Call us today for more information!
