Great Barrington Farmers Market

I support the Great Barrington Farmers Market for many reasons. First and foremost is because over the years I've become friends with most of the vendors. The farmers tell me how to prepare an unusual ingredient, or share a new recipe, or just make me feel good to be buying the freshest and healthiest food in town. I also support the market because no matter when I go, I run into friends. And that feels good. Another reason I support the GB farmers market is because I can buy food there I can't buy elsewhere. The peach salsa, the soups, Marjan's dropdead chocolate pie--who can live without them? And for several months at the beginning the farmers market season, there's a wide variety of small plants available for growing my own food. Smart farmers started them, and I get to enjoy both their labor and my own. I could go on and on about why the Great Barrington Farmers Market is one of the greatest places in the southern Berkshires, but this is already too long and maybe even too mushy.
