Omaha Village Pointe Farmers Market

By: DaveK (Apr 21, 2008)
I visited the Village Pointe Farmers Market in western Omaha during 2007 and while it is not as large as the one in the Old Market District in eastern Omaha, it is well attended and I had no trouble finding what I wanted. The Old Market market is extremely popular and so very crowded. This can be fun and allows for a greater variety of stuff, but also makes it slow to find vendors and discourages one from standing around chatting with the vendors. The Village Pointe market does not have these problems, the vendors are friendly and are not so busy that they don't have time to answer questions or just shoot the breeze a bit. There is usually (always?) also a master gardener available to answer questions about local gardening. Again, the smaller crowd makes this a more valuable service, as there are usually only a few people around talking to him, which makes the information much more accessible and in-depth.It would be nice to see some more vendors at the market, but there are also a number of road-side stands that operate daily in the area to fill any gaps and that can be visited throughout the week.
