The Campus Club at the University of Minnesota (on the fourth floor of Coffman Union) is one of the very best restaurants in the Twin Cities, both in terms of quality and value. The food is always fresh, expertly prepared and artistically presented. There is an ever-changing variety of different foods to choose from every day. I recommend everything. My favorites are the daily Chef's Special, the excellent salad bar, and the lamb burger. In the winter, I especially love their comforting soups (my favorite: steak and potato). They make an effort to use locally produced ingredients. Their portion sizes are just right--large enough to satisfy, but not so large as to tempt me to overeat. The atmosphere is friendly and inviting. The views of the Mississippi River from the bar and of downtown Minneapolis from the main dining rooms are outstanding. Every time I go out to eat at a restaurant, I find myself comparing it to the Campus Club. The Campus Club usually wins.
