I think Violet is referring to the 2008 season; however, I still don't know what she is talking about, or what upset her so much. We got plenty of wonderful, fresh produce each week - with no shortage of choices - WAY more than 4 people could handle. I froze TONS of veggies and an awful lot of tomato sauce. I got advice via an email from QCF on how much easier it is to roast tomatoes in the oven, let them cool, remove the skins and proceed with sauce making in lieu of the messy and time consuming job of blanching, dunking in ice water and then peeling the skins off method of making tomato sauce. The 2008 season was more than OK for us; it was super bountiful!

Last year was our second with Quiet Creek Farm. I've just renewed our membership for next year. I've found the quality of the produce and the experience of meeting the farmers who grow that food each week is fantastic and a wonderful opportunity for my young son to learn about where our food comes from. Violet perhaps noticed a change between last year's harvest and the year before, which was wonderfully abundant. So goes farming, we've learned. In fact, one of the unexpected benefits of our QCF membership has been learning these lessons. Tomato blights happen. Some squash grow better during rainy seasons, others perform best in dry conditions. We've got no regrets and no reservations when it comes to Quiet Creek Farm and can't wait for the next season to begin.

2009 was our first year with Quiet Creek and frankly, I do not know what Violet is talking about. We had an excellent experience with wonderful, delicious produce. We switched several times to pickup on alternate days of the week and always had an abundant harvest!

The weather lead to blight on the tomatoes not the farmers. It affected the entire northeast of the U.S. including my home garden. Also, Quiet Creek is organic so they take better care of the soil than conventional farmers. It sounds like Violet does not understand how weather affects farming and was disappointed by poor yields of a few items. I picked up on Friday and got everything she said she did not get. The yields for other items were great due to the the weather in 2009, e.g. spring greens. Violet just sounds mad.

Wow--not sure what Violet is talking about. I also had a share last season and loved it. Plenty of vegetables each week. It was a rainy summer and I noticed my garden tomatoes got blight--but every farmer in the Valley noticed an effect from the rain. I thought Quiet Creek did a great job managing their fields and shares.

I loved this place and was a member for a couple years but last year was terrible- I was heartbroken. Too many shares-overplanting to keep up- even short staffing (for legitimate reasons)- led to few items in weekly distrib -and many things got blight, rot etc from being too crowded in the fields- Strawberries, peas and beans, melons, raspberries-even tomatoes: all either were stunted or had VERY short season and supply. They did not even bother to ration properly so that everyone got some the first day but none of us on latter days of week got it- week after week. Tried to discuss it with them numerous times and they said they did not know what we meant ...but they later admitted many people were upset. They kept saying we agree to take these risks along with them....But I say if the risks result from ignoring what you know- that you cannot overburden the earth every year to sell more shares- then that is foolhardiness and should have led to some type of partial refund or at least an apology! It will be awhile before I trust someone with that much money again with such little accountability from them. That is not what this was all to be about.
