i've been a member of this farm from the beginning, and am proud to call myself a freewheeler'. living in santa cruz can be overwhelming with so much amazing local food all around- more than you even knew that you wanted. what makes freewheelin' so important for me is, yes, the produce- variety, quality, all around goodness... but then comes the integrity of the farm and the farmers themselves. every season i know that my veggies are almost 100% petrochemical free. they deliver all of their food on bike, their tractor is biodiesal... last year amy gave us the stats on how much petrochemical was used in the production of their food. not remembering the numbers- it was low, way low.
it has been so inspiring to watch this farm grow every year, and be a part of such a lovely community. it has truly changed my relationship with the food i eat- so much more connected and aware of what i nourish myself with. i know exactly where each little radish and carrot has come from and who has lovingly brought these treasures to my door.. thank you amy, kirsten and darryl. i am so grateful for your work, your farm and your food!
