We bought a three month subscription and enjoyed the sausage, beef and eggs. The chicken was pretty tough and different from what we are used to. If we marinated it and put it on the grill it was fine. It was interesting to receive a different type of meat than we are used to every month and satisfying that we were receiving a locally raised product.

Pasture raised chicken will be "tougher" than typical store purchased birds as they graze and exercise unlike factory raised birds. At the farm, we refer to this toughness as muscle tone. Marinating is always a good practice. Soaking chicken pieces in buttermilk w/spices overnight before making fried chicken or marinating in seasoned plain yogurt before grilling are couple of my favorite preparations for our chicken . Happy eating!
