Our friend Ben and Silence Dogood joined Quiet Creek Farm CSA the second its doors opened, and have been delighted CSA members for the past 3 seasons. You can read some of our many writeups of Quiet Creek and its benefits on our blog, Poor Richard's Almanac (http://ourfriendben.wordpress.com/) by using our search bar to check out any or all of these posts: "Ending the CSA season," "What's up at out CSA?", Time to sign up for a CSA near you," "Hunting and gathering," and "Hip hip hooray for the CSA." We feel that access to the U-Pick garden alone would more than justify the price of membership (imagine picking all the cilantro and basil you can use for the entire season---heaven!!!---not to mention our all-time favorite beans, 'Dragon Tongue'---try finding them in a store or even a farmers' market, a fantastic assortment of paste tomatoes for canning, cherry tomatoes for eating, a wonderful assortment of hot peppers, and tons of other herbs, berries, veggies, and flowers, including our favorites, nasturtiums)! U-Pick aside, the bounty and variety of gorgeous organic produce; John and Aimee's flexibility not only in responding to member requests but in partnering with local organic growers for the most fabulous fruit, cheeses and dairy products, eggs, meats, breads, flours, honey, cider, and so much more; Aimee's abundant and delicious recipes, provided free to all members and featuring the week's produce, her canning and preserving classes, and the weekly e-mail updates about what we can expect in our week's shares, are just fabulous. Heidi's delightful (and delightfully helpful) presence in the barn is an extra bonus. If we were Michelin graders, we'd give Quiet Creek four stars! If you're lucky enough to live in the area, join with confidence.
