Dennison's Family Farm

Dennison's Family Farm's CSA made summer 2009 a tasty culinary adventure in my house! Every week on pickup day my husband would come home wanting to know "What's in the box"?

And what was in the box? Tomatoes, strawberries, onions, bell peppers, jalapenos, chard ... too much to name. There were even things I had to Google (tigger melon, for example). I like the element of surprise, not knowing exactly what you're going to get every week.

I would not have guessed that 2009 was their first year to have a CSA program. The deliveries were always on time and the produce was obviously just harvested - I never found any wilted leaves or other signs of inappropriate storage. Their attention to detail was fabulous.

My only complaint: 10 weeks of this makes the other 42 weeks of the year look bad.

I only signed up for the half-share this year, since I'm afraid my class and work schedule aren't going to leave me much time for figuring out how to store extras, but I'm rethinking it the closer it gets to spring. The idea of Christmas every week for 10 weeks is more appealing than just for 5 weeks.
