Coon Rock Farm

My family and I drove up to this farm this past Saturday. I can't really comment on the vegetables, but we purchased eggs, maple sausage, bacon, and ground beef. It's pricey but I went there knowing what to expect. I was really excited to try locally grown, organic food. Well, upon bringing my purchases home, I realized that one of the ingredients in the maple sausage was artificial maple flavor. It was like a complete waste of money to me -- why would you flavor sausage with artificial maple flavor? Why not use maple syrup? I just didn't get why they would take a completely fresh item, then add trash to it. The bacon was PURE fat, there was no BACON on my bacon!! Have you ever seen pure white, fat strips...? I have no idea how they could sell that to people. Tonight I'm going to try the ground beef and pray that it makes up for the rest. However they really need to pay attention to the quality of the products and not sell marked-up garbage just because it's locally grown.
