Miller Ranch Enterprises Grass-fed beef

We recently received our second order of beef from Miller Ranch Enterprises. Our first, tentative, order of an "unfinished" grass-fed animal was a quarter beef in May 2010. We had much of it processed as hamburger, as some in the family tire of chewing after a while. However, along with meat came counsel on how to prepare it. After a bit of a learning curve, we mastered its preparation, and by November made our second, enthusiastic, order of a half a beef, with more of it in standard cuts. We just polished off a tri-tip steak, slow cooked in a turbo oven, and it was exceptional!

The whole experience of dealing with the Batezell family has been a pleasure. We discovered them on Local Harvest. Browsing was done via their web site, and business was handled via e-mail. Everything has been handled with the competence and thoroughness of true professionals, in a clear and timely manner. Still, I visited the ranch before writing this, just to make sure that my experience dealing electronically was consistent with realities "on the ground." The place is well managed, the cattle truly are grass fed, and the Batezell family is as friendly and gracious in person as on line.

Our family is careful about sources of food and particularly meat. We want to know that the animals are raised humanely and conscientiously, with attention of their (and our) health qualities. We've found it all at the Batezell's Miller Ranch Enterprises, and at a remarkably fair price!

We look forward to a long and enjoyable relationship with this business in years to come.
