Lau Family Farm

In today's industrialized food production system, rarely do we know who creates your food. Being able to talk to the people who raises your beef and lamb is incredibly powerful. We were lucky enough to discover the Lau's at the Salt Lake City Farmer's Market two years ago, and we have used their beef and lamb almost exclusively. We've bought 2 half-beefs and several lambs from the Lau's so far. Their beef is top quality, as is their lamb, and very reasonably priced for what you get. In addition to their high quality product, they have wonderful customer service. The Lau's are more than willing to work with you on special orders, special cuts, or other special requests. They have even made special trips just for us all the way from Idaho.

Until we discovered the Lau's we were struggling with finding good, safe, affordable beef for our family. Being in public health, I am very aware of how unsafe the modern meat industry is becoming, both in terms of food safety as well as long term health effects from high-fat and cholesterol meats. Local grass-fed organics are a wonderful alternative. Not only is the beef healthier for long term health, but it is much more likely to be safe from foodborne outbreaks like E. coli O157:H7.

So if you live in the Wasatch Front or Southern Idaho, I can't recommend Lau Family Farms enough.
