Crown Point Ecology Center

I am a first year shareholder at Crown Point , the largest CSA in the area. It is 15-years old, one of the oldest in Northeast Ohio. In spite of the awful planting weather this spring (50% more rain than usual), our shares have been amazing.

Pick up this week (late August) included a refrigerated tub with corn, onions, garlic, basil, lettuce, chard, several kinds of peppers, turnips, and carrots; non-refrigerated items to weigh oneself (squash, tomatoes, tomatillos, eggplant, and edename), and items like string beans and cherry tomatoes, to pick on your own in the field.

I also like the excellent weekly updates that our farmer emails us before pick up, sharing some of the growing conditions and tidbits about each item in the share that week. (For ex, that 40 varieties of tomatoes have been planted.)

This farm feeds about 200 families, and also grows several tons of organic produce for our regional food bank.
