Let me start with the positive - the people here are extremely nice and visiting the farm for pick up is fun. All three of my kids absolutely loved it. Also they have great eggs for sale at a very reasonable price. Unfortunately, our CSA experience was not quite all that we'd hoped. First, the weekly newsletter, while beautiful, rarely reflected what was actually available. It was frustrating to plan menus and recipes only to arrive and hear that they weren't supplying the things listed. Secondly, and more importantly - much of our food was low quality (major insect damage, overripe etc.) and was rarely worth the weekly rate, compared to the farmers' market. I would say "well, this was a bad year for strawberries because it was so wet (or whatever) that's just part of the risk etc." but the farm was simultaneously selling produce (I'm assuming their higher quality stuff) through other outlets which made us feel kind of shortchanged as members.
I love the CSA concept and fully support the idea but our experience with this farm didn't quite live up to its promotional material. I've since heard from other former members that their experiences were similar. Bottom line - if you're looking for a fun farm visit experience and the food is of secondary importance, this is a great place. If you're on a budget and want good food and a way to eat local/support local producers, you may want to look at other options.
