A typical weeks share might include Thai eggplant, Japanese eggplant, napa cabage, basil, cilantro, & peppers. Another week it might include radicchio, green beans, padron peppers, exotic hot peppers, tomatoes & okra. Other veggies that made an appearance on this year's spring summer share were frisee, arugula, chioga beets, mizuna (which my kids LOVED, who knew!?), figs, baby lettuce, carrots, turnips, Italian eggplant, sweet peppers, kale, daikon radish, swiss chard, potatoes, French breakfast radishes, tomatillos, summer squash, winter squash, watermelon & more.
Often, I buy extra veggies in addition to my share because we are vegetarian and eat lots of veggies. Also, if they ever offer eggs, be sure to buy them. They come from wild bantam stock & have a really wonderful flavor.
Although we don't eat meat, I've visited TomTen farm in Green Bay, VA and ducks, turkeys, & chickens are all very well taken care of. They are true free range, in the field birds. TomTen welcomes members to come see how their food is grown.
Autum & Brian love making their customers happy. They ask members for feedback & are constantly trying to improve. They thrive off of knowing their hard work is making people happy, with fresh organic produce. Every week they send an email with what the share will have in it and often they send their favorite recipes along in the email too. You will not find nicer people, or fresher organic produce in Richmond.
