18 mths ago we did the summer CSA here. It really changed the way we eat - new, freshly and or locally grown veg, honey, cheese etc. We got quite a few things in the CSA that were new (chard, sorrel, kale, to name a few) to us but have become firm favorites. That was part of the attraction, fresh locally-grown produce that broke you out of your usual food rut. As well as setting the rhythm to our food week, surprisingly we found that it reduced the amount of food in general that we threw away. An all round success, would highly recommend.
This past spring (2012) we did the spring CSA. Again would recommend. This summer was busy for us so we shopped at the farm stand a la carte (CSA pick up day tends to have the best choice).
Whenever I picked up the CSA I always tried to make time to take a stroll out onto the boardwalk over the pond and to see the seasonal changes happening there, always abuzz with bird life.
