This was the first time I had ever signed up for a CSA share and I am so glad I choose Working Hands Farm. The farmers here are 100% dedicated to growing the highest quality organic vegetables, raising beautiful, healthy animals that provide top-quality eggs and milk, providing bountiful CSA baskets all season long, and for promoting a sense of community among members and other Portland area residents. The farmers at Working Hands Farm encourage members to take charge of their health (and their family's health) by offering three different CSA pickup locations in Portland and the surrounding area, providing delicious whole food recipes to make use of their produce, and educating customers about the advantages of eating the freshest food possible. Working Hands Farm runs farm stands at each of their pick up locations so that anyone can stop by and pick up whatever seasonal goodness they choose. Working Hands Farm promotes community by encouraging members to visit the farm with their families to meet the animals, and learn more about growing food. They hold volunteer days and outdoor movie screenings which are fantastic opportunities to spend a day or evening outdoors, chat with your farmers and meet your neighbors. Visiting this farm was often the highlight of my week; I knew that signing up for their CSA would provide us with super-fresh and tasty vegetables, but our new friendships are perhaps the best benefit.
