Three Sisters Community Farm

Farmers Jeff and Kelly use organic and biodynamic principles to grow some of the tastiest and nutrition-dense vegetables you may ever eat. Each week during CSA season is exciting--opening the box to discover the week's harvest is more fun than opening most birthday presents. Great care is also taken to deliver a product that looks as good as it tastes.

Farmers Jeff and Kelly are also happy to answer questions on how to use all the veggies effectively, either with recipe suggestions, or with hints and tips for storage (e.g. freezing, canning, drying, etc.).

One of the most revolutionary discoveries in my kitchen was Jeff and Kelly's suggestion to make kale balls: simply blanch the leaves for a couple minutes, drop in ice bath, squeeze out water, and freeze. Presto. Kale is now available on a moment's notice from the freezer during the long winter months. (This trick can be used with most hardy greens, and is a great way to not let items from the share go to waste).

Check them out at the West Bend or Tosa Farmers Markets to get an idea what their produce is like. If you enjoy it, consider joining the Three Sisters Community Farm CSA. While market sales are important, the impact of the CSA income is tremendous for small, local farms. CSA promotes involvement and nourishing of the community through the avenue of knowing one's farmer and where one's food comes from.
