I'm an intern here, and these people are truly trying to grow some clean healthy food. The land here has not always been treated kindly, but the stewards are doing everything they can to replenish and reinvigorate the soil and biology. They completely stopped spraying herbicides, fungicides, pesticides, and other man made big ag chemicals on their trees and plants a few years ago. To replenish the organic life and deter the scab and other pests from harming the pecans they spray beneficial nematodes, parasitic wasps, and natural soil amendments to balance out the mineral deficiencies in the soil. They have worked closely with soil biology expert Betsy Ross from Texas to come up with the best regimen to encourage the soil health. The products they offer are grass-fed beef, pastured pork, healthy pecans-not organic certified yet, and blueberries, scuppernogs, muscadines. I don't have room to share it, but they have a great story to share of how they got started in the 1940s. Look it up!
