Walker Farm at Whortleberry Hill

I absolutely love the beef from Walker Farm. It has a rich taste and is well-marbled. What I love even better than the beef is seeing the cows being treated so well. Joan treats each cow as the individual it is, knows their personalities and health histories. She has an excellent relationship with a local livestock veterinarian so that at the first sight of trouble (may it be an ankle that twisted when stepping on a rock or complication from calving), she can consult on the best course of action and summon a house call for the cow in question if need be. The cows receive affection from Joan and her visitors - pets, neck scratches, sometimes snuggles and serenades. Go for a visit, buy some meat, and visit the cows. It's well worth the trip.
