Certified Farmers' Market Palm Desert - Outdoor

By: Erica Johnson (Oct 9, 2022)
I first noticed that there weren't many people here, which is kind of sad. I would love to see lots of people here, buying and buying from these vendors. It use to be that the Farmers Market was where you could get fresh, organic produce at great prices, considering the Farmer was cutting out the middle man. I remember the days when my mom would pull off in Topanga Canyon and buy fruit and veggies from someone, and she sure smiled about her shopping! Well it's a different world now. The prices are astoundingly high. It's rough enough in today's economy to keep a family going, but the Market isn't doing anyone any favors (apparently not themselves, either).18 fresh brown eggs, $10. I can get organic brown, jumbo eggs at Trader Joes for less than $5/dozen. The regular white jumbo's for $2.99. $7 for a small tub of hummus or yogurt at FM. This simply isn't appealing, and I found it all pretty sad. They had very few customers, and although I wanted to buy, I simply couldn't justify it!
