Blue Star Acres CSA/ 4B Ranch

I signed up for this last fall, knowing that we would not always be able to eat (or in the case of my family) want to eat all the produce. But I still thought of it as doing my bit for the environment and supporting local agriculture. And my friends and family are happy to help us eat what we don't.

It has turned out to be a wonderful experience, even down to praying for rain a couple of weeks ago so a local farmer would not lose his crop when his municipal water supply was interrupted.

It is good for those of us who do not live off the land to get a glimpse, however small, of what it takes to get food out of the ground.

And when we had the salmonella poisoning scare with commercial tomatoes recently, I could confidently tell my worried grandchildren that these were organic tomatoes and perfectly safe to eat!

Every week it is something new in the box, and I love it!!
