City market provides great diversity, low prices and freshness in produce. The year round shops like Carollo's and El Habashi offer quality alternatives. The events offer something for the whole family and make shopping for food a fun activity I look forward to the Pumpkin Patch every year. Thank you City Market for all you give!

I raise a lot of nuts, fruits, vegetable, and herbs that I use and give away to my friends and family; but there are just some things I like - like strawberries, cherries, and rosemary that I just cannot raise in my type of soil as well as others. It is for the variety that I like on my plate that I shop on a monthly basis with my girl friend or mother for items I cannot normally get fresh enough from others or grow myself. Besides that The City Market is a fun and friendly atmosphere in which to shop and trade ideas with a wide variety of vendors. I believe I have been going in the spring, summer, and fall for over 30 years now and it remains a wonderful experience of shopping, eating, and sidewalk entertainment still today.

I have been going to The City Market for 30 some years. I have developed freinds I visit weekly, i love the entertainment, the choices of so many diffent items. Everytime i see a new vendor and i like their products I always compliment them on their products and packaging and encourage them to come back. I am a gardener and really enjoy trading tips, recipes and knowledge with my freinds. I only wish I had some kind of hidden talent or idea and I too could work their weekly! Keep up the good work and I really appreciate the contest. PS I miss having the pets wondering around with everyone.

Local farmers from all around the KC metro area plus great local restaurants and shops you can't find anywhere else. Saturday mornings are great for shopping (produce, baked goods, pasta, jewelry, soap, candles, wine, etc), eating and people watching! Plus I love that it's convenient to the bus line allowing us to save gas and parking hassles.

The City Market in Kansas City, MO always carries a wide variety of locally grown produce at reasonable prices. Buying local is important because you're supporting your neighbors and it reduces the cost of transporting the produce. Not to mention the items are fresher. The City Market also carries local vendors that sell flowers and home-made items such as jewelry, soaps, and candles. It's always a great experience to shop at the City Market. I support the City Market and feel that everyone in Kansas City should do the same.

I love the taste of home grown vegetables but do not have a place to grown them myself. City Market has a wide variety of fresh fruits and vegetables as well as other things to buy and enjoy. The most important reason I support the City Market is because it is supporting local farmers.

My favorite part of the City Market is the locally grown (and especially organically grown) produce. I really enjoy the blueberry bread made by one of the Amish families in the market. Prices aren't bad either and that helps a lot in our economy. It's also one of the few places that I can bring my 11 year old daughter and my 10 year old son for shopping! They actually enjoy going to the City Market and help me shop.

This is my favorite place in KC! I grew up on a farm and don't currently have a garden -- but there is no where else in the city where I feel as "at home" as I do at the City Market! My husband and I visit the market every weekend that we are in town.

What you have noted as 'The City Market' is the name I knew growing up, but for at least 15 years (probably longer) the city has been promoting a 'new' name for this area: 'The River Market.' The City Market is the 1st of its kind and is centrally located in the urban core. In the spring the choices of plants are great. When I need annuals, perennials, vegetable and herb plants this is my destination! Later in the season there are a wide variety of locally harvested fruits and vegetables. In addition the baked goods available are truly made from scratch and for a family interested in grain fed meats the choices here are not to be missed...Is there another market in the area which sells chickens, geese, etc.? In addition there's Planters Seed Co. and The City Market Coffee House. Succotash is a well known vegetarian restaurant and for anyone interested in history the Steamship Arabia museum and tour is a great stop.
