I have been shopping at the farmers market ever sense I was a little girl. I would go with my parents when they went to the market. The people at the market are so nice. The prices are not over priced on the products sold, everything is fresh, you can't say that about a lot of the stuff that grocery stores sell. From the restaurant and art store up-stairs to the space that sells nut and the space that sells cheese and space that sells veggies and chicken and coffee and hambugers and all the venders in and out side the walls of Flints Farmers Market. It is a wonderful place to shop and stop to have coffee and get something to eat and meet new people and run into friends and family and talk to the nice people who sell their goods at the market. I love that the community is so behind the market in the support they give. People come from all over to shop there. My friends from Owasso come to the Flint Farmers Market to shop. The Flint Farmers Market has such a warm, friendly atmosphere, the kind of place you want to come back to again and again.

While farmers market is a fun place to go I agree, Please don't think everything is fresh. I believe a lot of people go there "THINKING" they will get "FRESH" produce. While there are a "FEW" things that are local please pay attention. Right now next to nothing is fresh. Not tomatoes, not corn and not fruit. Strawberries are. The rest is mostly shipped from CA. I have shopped here for as long as I can remember always believing I was getting fresh.. Take a walk through one day and ask each vendor what they have that is MI grown. Right now most will tell you "NOTHING" In July and August there will be some local grown, but slim pickings. Go to the market , enjoy your self, because it is a fun place to shop. But don't go only because you "THINK" your getting some thing fresh. I went today and before I left I promised my self I would come home get on facebook and let others know. I thinks its only right.

I have gone to this Farmer's Market since I was a child-- it is now and has always been a very festive, warm experience. Additionally, they always seem to have something new-- a vendor, area, event-- as well as your favorite, familiar places. It is so much fun for me to take my daughter there each Saturday for our shopping-- as my mother did with me. I look forward to it each week.

The first thing is that everyone is frendly. The second is that they are helpfull. The third is they go out of their way for you. They treat you like they have known you for years. They do not look or talk down to you, I drive from Owosso by passing owosso's Vernon, Durand's farmers market, what does that tell you. Specialy when I only have about 2 miles to drive to the first one.

After visiting other Farmer's Markets, I understand why new visitors to the Flint Market are in awe of ours. The vendors are like family, the produce and specialty foods are high quality and delicious! You cannot go without seeing many friends and acquaintances. It truly brings out the best in everyone! There was a time when the market was in jeopardy of shutting down and the community came forward to save its beloved source of healthy food offerings and support of the local vendors. It is one of the best ways to share a Saturday morning!

It's just cool- a gritty cities best kept secret. There are all kinds of vendors inside and outside and upstairs and downstairs, selling anything from fresh fruits, veggies, meats, any kind of cheese you can hope for. It does not stop there, they also sell all kinds of wines and other alcholic/non-alcaholic beverages, baked goods, jewelrey, flowers, books, crafts, gifts. There is a clothing boutique, restaurant (you can eat inside or off the balcony), small art gallery, specialty foods store, bread shop, turkey shop, fresh doughnut/elephant ear vendor, etc. There is so much to shop for and look at that I can't possibly remember it all. They also have BBQ cook offs and other contest throughout the year. They are open year round and love to spend my lunch hours there. The hustle and bustle of it all and knowing we are supporting our local vendors/crop growers makes it a special place in a city that has suffered so much. I would absolutely love to see if voted number one.

I love the Flint Farmer's Market. I took my grandchildren there last Saturday and they loved it. From the Harvest Bread Co. to the vegetable sellers that we were able to sample watermelon, etc. it was a wonderful, sunny day in the city from which I was born. I live in the country (Otisville), but enjoyed our visit to see a wide array of vendors, including crafters. This is a positive location that is a must for visitors to experience, plus the college-cultural area too.

As a lifelong resident of the Flint area I've had the oppotunity to go and experience the market for 50 plus years. I've also had the opportunity during travels to see Farmers markets in other areas and states, however none of the them have ever compared to the Flint Farmers Market. The awesome varieties of produce, meat, baked goods, etc. as well as the warmth and friendly atmosephere of the merchants and patrons, makes it the best farmers market in all the world.
