As a vendor we have had the most wonderful experiences with the folks that come and visit our booth at the Matthews market. It is a pleasure to get up on Saturdays knowing that we'll be enjoying the music and lively activity. The folks that work at, volunteer for and support the market are the greatest. We are fortunate to be involved with such a friendly community.

the booths are many and the bounties are always plentiful, altho overpriced. Everyone is neighborly and informative on their expertize. Great atmosphere and chef demo each Sat. Having a tasting at some of booths was yummy and helpful and made us want to come back. My husband and I find it a happy experience since we love fresh and organic whenever possible.

I get a great pleasure from buying those excellent veggies, the crisp, fresh greens, firm and glossy eggplants and peppers, fresh eggs, and so many other wonderful items. Knowing that the foods are organic, and raised within a radius of 50 miles from my home is a big part of that. There is an atmosphere of goodwill and common interest between all the shoppers and venders that is a welcome change from ordinary life.

There's a bell at 7:15?!?!? '-D Hey, I'm not a "morning person" but I'll still roll out of bed by 8 and run to the Matthews Farmers Market. It has the best of everything - food, fun and community - along with a great website to share information too!

It is such an easy, teaching tool about food for my kids. They see and meet the farmers, see what they grow without any 18-wheelers, factories and distributors beetween us and the food.

I get up early and drive to the Matthews Community Farmers Market for the quality of the food and sense of community. In addition to good produce and food they always have some sort of informative activities such as chef demos using the current fresh produce. They also have crafts and music. Haven't found a better Farmer's market and I've been to a few.

Local produce, produced responsibly by organic and low pesticide use farmers. Great programs, including cooking demonstrations and tastings by some of Charlotte's best chefs. Fabulous baked goods, locally grown pork that is the best pork I have ever tasted. Plus there is a true sense of community, grown from the dedication and commitment of a handful of wonderful farmers and supporters. A great way to start your Saturday!

Such a sense of community at the Matthews Community Farmers' Market has made North Carolina finally feel like HOME to me. After relocating to NC from Dallas/Fort Worth, TX nearly 2 years ago, I started attending the Matthews Farmers' Market in Matthews in April of this year. As a cancer survivor, finding good locally grown organic produce and local suppliers for beef that was grass fed and finished were high priorities. I found it ALL (and more: good music, good classes & demos, and good friends) at the Matthews Community Farmers' Market!

I appreciate the high quality and convenience of having one place to shop. The email newsletter lets me know what to plan for the shopping.

In addition to the fabulous food, I enjoy the cooking events by local chefs who demonstrate different ways to use local, seasonal produce. And of course the arts and crafts and music add a special ambiance to the whole experience. Going to the market is community affair which can easily become a tradition.

Charming, intimate in feeling, it is a thow back to times past and for me, has the feeling of a small European market. The music and cooking demaonstrations, by no less than distinguished chefs such as Mark Hiibs, make this an experience for all the sneses and one of the best things about living in the Charlotte area!

Knowing that all vendors grow what they sell and are from a 50 mile radius of Matthews really means a lot. At many markets "local" can mean all the way to Florida. For that I could use a grocery chain. The addition of chef demonstrations and live music really make it a community gathering as well.

I have been getting up at 5 or 6 every Saturday I can remember to go "To Market"...it reminds me of an old saying, "Food for the body, lilies for the soul."Food grown by folks who are my friends for people who come to gather and become friends. There is a sense of community, back to basics, shared recipes, a fabulous newsletter sharing the news of farmers and cooks and chefs and gardners.Matthews Community Farmers Market is my tether to this world. The comradie carries me forward and the casually strung tents and ground mulch walkway remind of another time, more peaceful, more settled. But on Saturdays I get the best of both worlds. And feel quite Blessed.

Its comunity centered. All vendors at the market bring their own produce and are able to answer your questions about type, use and just picked freshness. The farms must be within 50 miles of the market and our market board visits every applicants farm befor theyallow them to vend at our market. We have local artisans, local restaurant owners and chefs demonstrate cooking and preparation techniques, Musicians play during market. I've been visiting farmers markets for the last 20 years in 17 states and this is the best hands down because of the community that has come togeter around it.

The Matthews Community Farmers Market was established nearly 20 years ago, long before "local" or "organic" mattered to folks in this area. It was established with a rich vision that has, indeed, transformed the way that people in this area raise, prepare, and eat food. It has renewed the sense of community in Matthews and helped sustain the historic downtown area. It is filled with people - farmers, neighbors, volunteers - who have chosen to make Matthews a better place.
